Canadian Coast Guard Pleasure Craft Operator Card

On 05 June 1998, The Ministery of Fisheries and Oceans announced a comprehensive strategy to improve boating safety in Canadian waters. New regulations for boating came into effect 01 April 1999. Operators of powered boats will be required to obtain an operator's card showing a proof of competency, and to carry it with them at all times while operating a powered boat:


Persons who have successfully completed the Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons' Boating course, or the new BoatPro, will be eligible to receive this proficiency card. Persons who have obtained the CCG Pleasure Craft Operator Card are eligible to join Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons as Associate Members.
